Y’know, surprisingly Tingle’s very popular in Japan, and some parts of Europe, but Eiji Aonuma (one of the producers) has removed him from most recent Zelda games sense he’s aware of how much Americans hate the character. (American culture doesn’t really like “goofy man-child” type of characters.)
 
I never really had anything against Tingle personally, and I’m an American.
 
I noticed the kangeroo buddy you can get in the 2 “Oracle” GBC games doesn’t seem to fond of Tingle either. Tingle’s old man even seems to regard his weirdness, as well. So at least Tingle’s oddness is lampshaded in-universe, which makes him seem less “annoying” to me.

I’ll take Pinkie over Tingle any day. Thankfully, I’ve heard that the frustration over him was reduced in the Wii U remake.
