With heavy beating wings, Luna soared through the sky from Canterlot. With each thrust of her wings she gained a few inches in altitude, only to quickly lose them to her arch nemesis: gravity. It adored corpulent and heavy things, of which nowadays Luna was both. The world was constantly tugging at her plump overweight body, causing her stomach to rest on her thighs whenever she walked and giving her a sizable underchin even when she was looking upwards.

Yet gravity was worst when she was flying. Luna’s sheer girth meant she needed much more lift to stay afloat whilst her relative smaller wings provided less. It was a combination that meant this alicorn wouldn’t belong in the skies much longer if she didn’t change her diet. A fearful thought, given how in the last three months Luna had only gotten fatter and lazier. Oh how hated the thought.

Flap flap- flap flap

With some jealously she looked on how Celestia effortless glided through the skies ahead of her, with the occasional concerned glance to see if Luna was still keeping up.

Ugh, she had always been better at flying than Celestia, more swift and fleeting than her larger sister. Just why couldn’t she keep her once slim blue waistline in check?

As Canterlot began to disappear into the distance, Luna’s cheeks began to turn crimson. Her breathing was heavy and laboured and she could feel the sweat beginning to settle on her brow. In a desperate attempt to gain a little more lift, she kicked her hooves as if trying to walk through the sky.

Celestia would never let her live it down if they had to stop somewhere midway for Luna to catch her breath.

“D-don’t worry sister. I- I am coming” the alicorn panted. At least in Sugarcube corner she could regain some stamina with a tasty treat.
