Athena, better known as Esperanza was the former ruler of the Athenian Empire, which was located at Jawu Island. Back then, the Overland Islands used to be multiple countries in one region, but then, they would be put under occupation by other countries for around a century before the Overland became one united country. Esperanza was very well liked by the other overlanders because of her kind and strong personality. She always believed in peace and hope. Esperanza’s biggest dream was for the Overland to be one united nation, but she died of heat stroke in Abyssinia before she could see it happen. If Esperanza were still alive, she would have been very happy to see that the Overland is united. Because Esperanza is such a famous ruler, she got a statue after her death in the Bulan Mountains region in Jawu Island. Here, Applejack’s family are having a vacation in the Overland and are staying in Jawu Island. Pear Butter saw the statue of Esperanza and decided to have a family photo in front of the statue. There was a overlander photographer who took the Apple Family photo. She gave it to them and they were happy with the picture. Years later, even after the death of Applejack’s parents, the picture is still put up, in Granny Smith’s room.
