I have a feeling by the time that the movie came out The actual show would have been over for at least a year, And a finale movie What would probably need to come out Roughy the same time.
It also would have been too early for a revival

This is concept art for a second G4 movie that would have served as FiM’s finale. It’s unrelated to the 2017 movie we got (this art was made in 2017 when the first G4 movie was already finished). Hasbro very briefly considered creating this second G4 movie to release in 2019 but decided not to.

Nope. It was just the Mane 6, Spike, and a new character that was seen playing the guitar that was scrapped during production. And its role is possibly replaced by Capper, Captain Celaeno and the her crew, Queen Novo, and Princess Skystar , and the other hippogriffs/sea-ponies.
