I made this version so I could insert it into the end of the final chapter of “Elements Assemble” since Grogar makes his first appearance there. His name isn’t even mentioned during that scene, but we all know who it was right from the get-go.

If you are interested in what my headcanon about Grogar is like, here it is: Grogar was imprisoned in Tartarus after he was dethroned as emperor back during Equestria’s old days. He died in his prison not long after Nightmare Moon was banished, but in my most recent fanfic “The Ghost of Grogar”, the first chapter starts off with a flashback of the time Tirek, Cozy Glow, and Chrysalis were defeated by the Elements of Harmony. When Grogar’s Bell appears to ‘turn off’ and fall to the ground, it’s actually just having all of Grogar’s magic returned to it and then completing a spell which housed his spirit safely in there all these years. The seal is broken and black sludge leaks from the bell, which immediately starts eating away at magic remnants that flow through the air. It grows into a smoke-like entity with curly horns. It laughs and begins plotting its revenge. When the Trio are set free from stone, Cozy notices this same entity above her until it fades away. Almost nine years later, during the final chapter of “Elements Assemble”, King Thorax and King Scorpan talk about the dangers to come with their family now released. Little do they know, the one who released them is watching nearby. Grogar planned for this to happen all this time, and now that he is free, the truth is clear: he was never dead at all.
