It was a ’90s show, but yeah some ‘90s stuff got away with alot back then.
That was a good show BTW. I remember Gilbert Gottfried guest-starred in one ep’.
So would something like “Are You Afraid Of The Dark?” happen today in such a rating, Such as the “Tale of the Shiny Red Bicycle” episode in which a kid falls off a bridge into a reservoir drain and dies in the first four minutes?
It was filmed in the late 1980s or 1990, Somewhere around there. I think it’s the first episode of that TV show I ever watched.
In the original cut of “All Dogs Go to Heaven,” the nightmare scene was originally longer, and Charlie actually uttered the words Damn that Carface, I’ll kill him! (Which is oddly still in tact on the soundtrack.) But those were cut out to keep the G-rating in the movie.
Also, sadly the original cut reel of the movie was stolen from the vault it was in, and is now gone for good. (Thanks, thief…)
Of course, the dogs drinking alcohol, smoking, and gambling was left in, and nowadays wouldn’t be so easilly gotten away with in G-rated movies. It’s surprising how much subtle “adult” things were in the movie looking back on it. But I think that gives it some of it’s charm.
Still not as bad as the Hell nightmare scene from All Dogs Go to Heaven or the Worthless sequence from Brave Little Toaster.
