Apparently Spike’s appearance in MLP g5 brought in some mixed reactions. Idk I haven’t seen it.

And hopefully some new adult male bronies as well…
This tbh
You’re 2 months late. I probably would have commented the meme of Mr. Incredibles saying shut the fuck up but honestly I don’t want to waste the effort. I finally stopped caring now. MLP is nothing to me anymore. It’s an empty husk of the past.
Oh wow, Spike having a few bad episodes in G4 is just as bad as G5 destroying him visually and writing-wise!
Eh, don’t let the vocal ones get you down. I may not be a huge fan of G5, but that’s mostly because of its shift in art style; it’s a personal taste thing. I actually like a lot of what G5 is doing. People whine about Spike, but you’re right, the poor guy never had it very good.
I mean it is annoying yes, but that’s all Fandom tho. they’re just upset g4 is over and g5 had a weak start, well the movie a new generation was pretty good, but jeeze, it’s just a dumb cartoon for little girls, not much to it lol
Spike in G4:
I see. That makes a lot of sense. And yeah, I get why Hasbro lost money on Star Wars. Disney hasn’t exactly been taking good care of it other than things like The Mandalorian.
It’s highly likely. Hasbro had to shell out the big bucks to make the G4 episodes. When they lost a ton of money (star wars toys no one bought) they lacked the funds to make more of G4 proper. This would mean they left the majority of aspects of a “new series” to the parent company of the station, that being CN. This would be why the style is the bean faced with big heads and utterly nonsensical plots that hit a reset button at the end of each episode.
I’m curious. Is it because Discovery Family owns G4 that, that side series where all the G4 ponies were smaller and goofier was made?
I’m stating raw facts. Don’t like it, argue with reality.
Only 40%.
The owners of G4 are discovery family, formerly The Hub. They don’t own MLP, but they own G4 and all the characters. Hasbro didn’t look at the fine print in the deal.
Lauren never owned MLP. Not in any sense. The creative director, the creator, a director, main writer is just an employee of the corporation running shows. It’s super rare for the guy or lass who is credited with being “creator” to actually own the franchise. Almost non existent. That’s why good shows get suddenly cancelled and the “creator” is “extremely disappointed” every time. Because he has no rights to the show - he gets money for running it creatively. But the corporation gets to decide, cancel, renew etc.
Wait, then is it Lauren Faust that owns G4? Or is it discovery family?
The amount of content G5 has in terms of fan content is pitiable, only barely above content for anything pre G4, which is a horrific drop considering people joined in on G4 BECAUSE of it having solid writing and a rather consistent progression of events.
The amount of fanart, fanfiction and fan animations of G5 that are floating around not just here, but in places like Twitter and Youtube say otherwise that it’s a show that quote “can’t be enjoyed”
It never gets interesting. I watched it all, both of the series, the comics too, and the “interesting” parts are ideas they toss in and then never do anything with. G5 is pure concentrated potential with zero substance. Watching it like a normal show will end in a bad time.
But if you’re a loser nerd like me who is desperate for any semi-canon lore, then G5 does have at least a few concepts in there that will prime you to write a big ol fanfic. G5 can’t be enjoyed, but it can be… ugh, unicycled.
