When I said “realist”, I mostly meant something less animeish. Nevertheless, I agree with you 100%.
I’ll agree with you up to the point that you called for “realistic faces”. Anytime an artist does that, it inevitably winds up in the uncanny valley. So how about instead calling for this artist to do… “better faces”? Or perhaps “more varied and expressive faces”?
“Anime-style” is not an automatic negative, no matter what you might think. That said, it’s important that the style be done competently.

As for the drawing itself, the anime faces are failed. The bodies are very well done, the composition is good, and the colors are very nice. Only the faux-anime style spoil it.
Dear artist, try to give them realistic faces, just to see how it turn out. Do it. I see some potential here.
And I’m like, these are girls, man!
