Get in, grab the jewels, get out. No one’s the wiser. Steps one and two were simple enough, my employer (who wanted to remain anonymous, which should have been an obvious Red Flag) had made sure the security was otherwise occupied while I made my entrance. Came in through a rooftop skylight. The place was Classy with a capital CLASS, no surprise given who lived here.
Took me a bit longer than I’d like to find the room. A quick please & thank you with my lock pick, and I was in. Was dark inside, took a minute for eyes to adjust. Case was just on the other side of the room, out in the open on a mirrored dresser. Something wasn’t right. Went over and opened the case, nice and easy. There they were.

The telltale sound of a lighter. I spun around and drew my piece on instinct. The lights suddenly came on, couldn’t see. Kept my pistol aimed in front of me, had to stop myself from firing blind. Sight eventually returned to me, and what a sight it was. Lounging on a couch was none other than the Lady of the house herself.
