“LOOK AT ME I JUMPED ON THE ANTI EQG BANDWAGON! MY OPINION MATTERS! GIVE ME YOUR ATTENTION!”
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
why people care more about the look, and less about how he is essentially demoted to background character at best.
Spike times and times again proved to be a character all and for himself, worth being the 7th main character of the show(8th if we consider celestia too)
But nooooo he is a brealy cute puppy, unable ot express his love for rarity, to make his emotions TRULY known beyond assumption of idotic teenagers.
You make me sick people. You should be ashamed
Ah, yes. Good point.
@Background Pony
I was actually referring to Prince Zuko, but she’s also a good example.
Helga Pataki is my guess.
@vmpslushie
Because it implicitly degrades him, making him a mere animal compared to a fully “human” Twilight.
Who was that character?
And that could make for interesting characterization. Hell, Nickolodeon built one of the most complex and heavily characterized cartoon characters ever off of parental abuse. But it this case, I’d say it’s the writers themselves with the delusion that Twilight’s a good… whatever.
That has merit. I know someone like that.
I honestly think that Twilight has some sort of mental issue where she sees herself as a perfectly doting mother/sister/whatever-figure in Spike’s life despite being pretty bad to him. Spike just gives into it when she actually does act like it because he doesn’t get love from her at any other time.
And I’d honestly be fine with that if they actually treated it as a character flaw for Twilight, and have it influence Spike’s characterization. But most of they time they seemingly don’t realize Twilight is acting like a horribly abusive parent or are expecting us to laugh at it.
It makes those moments the writers obviously intended to heartwarming, like the scary door in “Crystal Empire”, come across as completely hollow and hypocritical. Twilight dosen’t give a damn about him any other time, so how are we supposed to take this complete 180 in behavior with a straight face?
Spike’s a terrible whatever-she-is-supposed-to-be to Spike most of the time anyway.
I guess “cuteness” is relative because I don’t see it. He looks like a creepy balding old man to me.
Spike has a weirdly shaped head regardless of his species. Doesn’t distract from his cuteness, though.
Sorry, everyone’s too distracted by Spike’s cuteness to care. Now we just need a .gif of him doing this:
Am I the only one who think Spike looks like an abomination? I don’t mind the fact that he’s a dog, but why’d they have to make him so ugly?
…What awesome bizarro universe have I stepped into?
