I think it was only particularly common in the early 2010s, when this came out, up to the #MeToo movement. When I was in law school it was kind of trendy to favor it, if no other reason but to overcorrect.

Seeing that they gave separate names for each half of the very first episode of the series, I wonder if it is a case of “early installment weirdness” as from what I can remember all other two-parters of this series didn’t have proper individual names for each part.
It is; the Viewing Guide gave individual names to both parts (probably something about making them easier for parents to distinguish, I’d guess). Part 2 got called “Elements of Harmony”.
