Also wanna say, if they are able to release the rest of story mode in any form or fashion, that’ll be fine. Even in a word document with plain text, the fans will take it from there
With the information he had available to him at the time, Aaron probably thought that selling to a publisher was the best option for continuing the development of the game. In retrospect, it wasn’t, because he didn’t expect that they would completely shut down production.
“You’re not making your own game fast enough for us. So we’re going to take everything you’ve worked on for years right out from under you.”
Fans can’t do anything officially to the game.
Yeah, there wasn’t anything like that before. It was a bit wack, and I can’t claim anything about the pro scene, but there weren’t literal crashes when the dev team was whole.
And yet, they still fired the team before Quality Assurance (QA) was finished. You know, bug testing and fixing? So that’s why the final two characters were released with lots of game-breaking bugs and are banned from tournaments. And with no developers who know the game inside and out left, no one can reliably fix the bugs, leaving the game in its state.
The publisher didn’t mess much for once.
The team was already dysfunctional as hell before that, the publisher just pulled the plug once they realized there was no way to whip them back into shape.
