Pay attention guys. While you were screaming “HOW DID SHE LOSE?!”, Chrysalis was saying how her sapping so much love had made her “more powerful than Celestia’. Once that love is gone, Celestia is the victor.

I thought she lost that fight because she’s not a all powerful pony god, and she couldn’t handle a creature that powers up from a source more powerful than friendship, something that was used to defeat creature more powerful than the princess herself. I mean, Chrysalis herself was surprised.

I think she lost because, well, she hasn’t had to fight anything for a thousand years. And she hasn’t gotten a good night’s sleep for just as long. Cushy living + no sleep = you can barely stand, and all it takes is a soft breeze to knock you out. And immortality doesn’t automatically mean you’re a fucking force of nature. And finally, even at her best that attack would have stung like a motherfucker. Chrysalis shot her in the face with a magical nuke and Celestia’s own attack.
 
But whatever, I doubt a single public defeat would completely destroy the faith of her subjects. Humiliating, yes. Crippling, no. Unless my headcanon is right and nopony actually gives a shit about her as far as her being a fellow pony goes. In which case, they might see her as having outlived her usefulness.  
It’s all bullshit though. She’ll be fine. She just needs to eat a goddamn sandwich and go for a jog every day.

In further developments, the initial hope of the Pony Spring has evaporated as yet another silver-shod dictator operating an cynical Cult of Princess Pink Personality has taken over the reins of power.
