From what I understand, being a Sunny shill and all that, this meme originated as a criticism that a user had with the ‘a New Generation’ film. Basically, they didn’t like the fact that the magic seemed to originate from the crystals and not from the restoration of friendship as seen in Friendship Is Magic. They also felt like Sunny was giving the other ponies magic herself, whereas magic wasn’t anyponys to give in Friendship is Magic-it just existed.

In ‘A New Generation’s defense, though, the magic didn’t originate from the stones, otherwise it would have spontaneously appeared when Sunny initially tried to bring them together. Instead, magic was only restored when the three pony species came together under a single cause for the first time in likely over a thousand years (depending on how long they had been separated). The crystals only seemed to be a way to focus that magic once it was formed.

Also, Sunny didn’t ‘give’ magic, rather she was the pony responsible for uniting the three tribes. Magic was restored due to that re-unification, rather than Sunny actively ‘giving’ it to them. As for why Sunny got her Alicorn powers, well, I think it is because she was the focal point of that reunification-it all played out thanks to her, her hard work, and dedication. So she was granted partial Alicorn abilities as a result of that.
