Popular ships are easy targets. Some people will always critique them or have a hateboner towards them. Maybe some people are just jealous of SweetieMash’s success/popularity.
Personally tho, I’m not a fan of popular ships. Mostly because there’s nothing special and unique about them. I like much less obvious things.
You’ve mentioned SoarinDash. This ship actually ticks me off. Not just because of its popularity but because of how it limits Soarin as a character. When people see a pic of Soarin, I’m pretty sure the first thing that crosses their mind is: “Oh, it’s Rainbow Dash’s boyfriend.”. Soarin simply cannot exist without RD being involved and that’s very annoying. Plus, SoarinDash extremely overshadows other Soarin ships. Just recently I typed in deviantART search “soarin x twilight” or “soarin x fluttershy”, and guess what results I got? SoarinDash pics everywhere instead! Even by typing “soarin” alone you’ll get SoarinDash results everywhere. Like, wtf…

It was more that I saw a bunch of artwork about Rumbelle om this site. I dont know who it was but they had all these arts about how Sweetie loved Button so much
I’ll admit, certain ships especially ones that were not the traditional ships like Soarindash I tended to have a great dislike of back then.
But I think there may have been also some anti-Butfon hostility, calling him a loser compared to the cooler more polite Rumble. And that made me dislike Rumbelle.
So thats my story. Im not as big of a shipper nowadays tho I still like Buttonbelle more than other Sweetie ships just not as overly passionately.

Because it was not Scootaloo with Rumble 😡
I don’t get it. Is it because RumBelle was at some point teased in the show? Ya know, in that secret admirer episode where CMC made that “shipping chart” where Rumble was considered as one of Sweetie’s potential suitors?

I guess Sweetie Belle is at the age shes interested in colts? Whos the lucky guy? Spike, Pipsqueak, Button Mash or my least favorite Rumble? Who shall win and get Rarity’s approval?
