This makes even more sense if you interpret it as not because of the “women warm, men cool” thermostat divide, but because Spike can’t thermoregulate due to being a reptile (I don’t remember if this was ever touched on in canon).

Spike has grown up a lot in this series. He scarified his chance for a Game Depot and got so much when he kept working. He would’ve been this giddy for a Game Depot, but now he’s equally excited for air conditioning.

This comic is SO Pacific Northwest. People don’t even know, lol! 70 degrees is hot! AC is unheard of in the region. Happy Spike finally got what he’s wanted for years in this series. This is like secretly a locals only joke, such as how in the PNW, to be a successful AC company, you ALSO have to do heating services as the van says, unlike other parts of the country.

Do you mares know how swamp ass hot it gets in the summer? It is not just ninety degree heat, it is ninety degree heat with eighty percent humidity. Outside of the air conditioning, your entire body is constantly covered with a quarter inch thick membrane of sticky, mucousy sweat. And the worst part is that most of it pools in your underwear, giving you the aforementioned swamp ass. Spend two minutes outside and you will be thanking Celestia that you have air conditioning.
