Because all three current EG books are directly based on the films, there’s really no apparent reason to love nor hate Finn’s writing. Other than removing the cafeteria song entirely. Obviously, it’s slightly harder to incorporate songs into books unless you’re Tolkien. :j
Not really sure what to think about anything else. I’ve never read any of the MLP or EQG books (and didn’t plan to). People seem to like GM Berrow’s stuff, but I’ve not heard anything yay or nay about Finn’s work.
