I mean, I don’t think anyone’s bugging the Derpibooru staff because Misty hasn’t joined the Mane 5 (lolwut) - but I was more talking about how this anon keeps going around to unrelated images and whinging about how it’s too soon for Misty to join the Mane 5, using weasel words to make it seem like they’re speaking for more than themself.

But you’re probably right, I shouldn’t have responded. Next time I’ll report it for a potential rule 6 violation, see if the mods agree.

I was agreeing with them. I’ll admit, I’m not perfect. I’ve had my toxic moments, too, but I’m really starting to get sick of all this nonsense.

Saying that Pipp is only obsessed with Internet metrics is a disingenious simplification of her character. She focuses on plenty of other stuff, like her salon, her singing career, and interests like her love for spooky stuff. Even in Make Your Mark you see focus on this other stuff like in Izzy Does It and in Hoof Done It (in the latter she’s more focused on her relationship with Zipp)

This isn’t to say that her obsession with social media isn’t a problem, or that Zipp is wrong for recognizing it as a problem, but she’s always had a lot more tact about it than in this panel. She’s made her remarks, but she’s never gone as far as to laugh in Pipp’s face.
Not to mention that it’s just counterproductive? If Zipp was genuinely concerned about Pipp she’d try to reason with her, not laugh at her face. That won’t make Pipp learn anything, it just humiliates her. The times she’s learnt against her social media obsession, they’ve been taught with much more tact (like in A Day in the Life), or she’s even come to the conclusion by herself like Maretime Bay Day 2.0, Ali-conned and even Portrait of a Princess.

honestly I don’t consider this being mean, being obsessed with likes and hearts is silly and something (even though it does feel good to get people liking your stuff, u shouldn’t be obsessed like she is) that I feel like is pipp’s only character trait in mym.

Her mood shouldn’t depend on the attention of others, there has been times including this comic were pipp will get depressed that she isn’t getting a lot of views, likes etc.

It’s because Hasbro is worried that they’re going to ruin G5 if Misty joins the Mane 5 too soon in the series so they’re holding off on Misty joining the Mane 5 for as long as they can. And Hasbro is right to do that. This will anger a lot of Misty fans, but Misty’s designs in G5 doesn’t look right to me and I think Hasbro colored Misty wrong that she’ll look like she doesn’t blend in with the rest of the Mane 5 if she finally joins them.

Hasbro has 2 Strikes against them with the G5 fans already. Sparky looks stupid for a dragon sidekick in G5. That’s Strike One. Opaline has one of the worst villain designs I’ve ever seen in mlp. Even Nightmare Moon and Queen Chyralris from fim both look more threating than her. That’s Strike Two.

If Misty joins the Mane 5 too soon in the G5 series then it’s Strike Three, Hasbro. You’re Out. And it’s very likely that some G5 fans will get upset over this and just stop watching G5 if this happens.

G5 is doing okay right now and it’ll be a shame if Hasbro ruins the series too soon.

It hasn’t aged well. Or maybe it has, with younger gamers obsessed with “achievements” and complaining if a video game doesn’t have any. The experience of a game is what’s important. It’s fine if they can’t have fun without getting a headpat for killing 100 enemies, but when the dumbass kids say there’s no point in playing or replaying a game if there’s no official achievements, they miss the whole point of gaming, and insult the entire medium.

Seriously, they trash talk masterpieces like Doom and Undertale and demand that achievements be added with depressing regularity.

I was thinking the same thing. The only time Zipp was ever this mean towards Pipp’s love for social media was in Portrait of a Princess, but that was after hours of Pipp not listening to her by posting pictures online. She’s never been mean to Pipp’s interests from the jump like this.
Like you said, this comic has had that problem before with Sunny and Izzy, making Sunny meaner than she’s ever been. I think these comics in general are trying to be snarkier, have a bit more edge than their source material, which leads them to turning the characters into dicks sometimes. I’d say the same thing about how bratty Pipp is in the story-related comics of the Discord arc, she downright sounds like a two-faced bitch who hates her friends in those.

I’m sorry, since when is Zipp this mean towards her sister? I get that she and Pipp not always understand each other’s interests, but they still grew up together. There’s no way Zipp wouldn’t already know Pipp cares about this stuff.
At the very least an eye-roll and a ‘really, Pipp?’, because it’s consistent with MYM and TYT that she thinks Pipp shouldn’t put her entire worth in her fans. But outright mocking?

I dunno, it feels more like the writer thought they were writing Rainbow Dash for a second there. Zipp has been shown to be much more sensible than that.

Then again, I think I’ve seen other people saying something similar about Sunny towards Izzy in the comics? So maybe it’s the result of different writers, different continuities.
