One thing is for sure. I hope Bolsonaro gets his ass deported back to Brazil. He’s got to be one of the first to get his ass prosecuted. Hopefully to also be the first to lose his privileges as ex-president.
The problem is that I don’t think people outside understand how ingrained and deep-seated corruption is in the Brazilian political system.

Nah. As bad and embarrassing as those dumbasses are, most are still just ordinary, if delusional, people being used by much more powerful groups/individuals. Those are certainly much closer to deserving that kind of punishment, but we all know they likely won’t come close to facing any meaningful consequences anytime soon, if ever.

Ehhhh, while I understand the sentiment that would only make things worse. It’s important to avoid further radicalizing people who aren’t yet extreme enough to go and do something like that. You might take down a couple thousand but in the process you’re creating a few tens of thousands more.

Well, remember I said this was cringe? Yesterday Brazilian right wing elements tried to mimic the Capitol occupation. It went about as well as one might expect. Even with the state’s police literally almost leaving all the space they might need to take over the three most important buildings in the capital. All they did was material damage, produce laughable videos, and get arrested.
Now THIS is cringe. Fuck’s sake… The ‘patriotic defenders of democracy’ can’t accept their candidate lost elections that their beloved armed forces confirmed was done as clean as could be, without a shadow of a doubt.
