Description
/r/ one of the apples, AJ, Big Mac, Apple Bloom, or granny talking to either the viewer or Anon. Behind them are bundles of sticks tied together and hanging from either rafters or trees. They should be saying “oh these? They’re faggots. We hang ’em ’round these parts.”

As a chinese myself, I can confirm that.
You should take a look at Chinese euphemisms. I won’t state any here, as this is a safe image, but the amount of word play in that language is stunning.
A stick back in the day was used as a euphemism for a man’s penis. A faggot which is a bundle of sticks is one way of saying the male being called one is a man who engages in sexual activities with many men. As for why gay became a name for people instead of being happy, it’s based around certain stereotypes of gay individuals (read as mostly men) being considered more flamboyant to the point of being perceived in this stereotype as overly happy, hence the term ‘gay’ stuck. Overtime the word gay became more accepted as the LGBT people started to use the term for themselves as a proper identifying term and not as an insult.
Before anyone says anything, I am not trying to be mean or insult/belittle people who are LGBT individuals nor am I trying to be rude. I am merely trying to shed light as to why certain terms became what they are.
Yes we are.
English speakers have the weirdest ideas to change the meaning of words.
