Page 1728 - If What
11th Aug 2022, 6:00 AM in What About Discord?I think… I just have an incredible weakness as a writer to villains negotiating and evaluating logistics.Heck, that’s like 70% of why I loved Netflix’s Castlevania, now that I think about it. …And why I wrote a whole DLC for Griftlands starring the top enforcer of a despotic capitalist.
Transcript:
Tirek: So the deception of the trickster god shows itself at last. But I must say I’m surprised. I thought you more cowardly than this. Putting your own freedom on the line just to yank on my leash? A thousand years of scheming in stone, and you’ll risk going back just to intimidate me?
Discord: If you drain me, I lose anyway. You should be flattered. I’m treating you like the existential threat you are.
Tirek: You’re in luck, Discord. I love a good wartime hypothetical. I’ll join you on this long walk. Suppose our little “partnership” breaks down. The alicorns’ magic remains hidden from me, and we duke it out over the fate of this saccharine land. What do you suppose happens from that point onward?
Discord: Well, as things currently stand right now, in a no-holds-barred fight, we’d draw. I’m too slippery for you to get a good lock on, but you’re strong enough to break out of whatever cage I put you in, arcane or mundane. And while we’re duking it out, the ponies will be rallying and scheming to strike back and reclaim their magic.
Tirek: Interesting. You seem certain that I can’t beat the remaining ponies without you. What gives you such confidence?
Discord: If there’s one thing these ponies are infuriatingly good at, it’s comebacks. I may be turning to stone in two days… but my statue’s pose will be laughter, knowing that you won’t be far behind me.
