It really shows how much “Blood and Honey” failed that an Animated Canon Remake comes across as better in comparison.

Though, as far as Animated Canon Remakes go, “Christopher Robin” is one that catches a lot less flack than the others.

OK, I looked into it one more time, and what I found is that everything related to Winnie The Pooh falls under the purview of The 1998 Copyright Term Extension Act, which gave works published from 1923 through 1977 a 95-year copyright term. As you stated Winnie the Pooh was published in 1926, thus under the 95-year term its copyright ended as of January 1st 2022.

Nope, still don’t get it. Anything after 1922 = copyrighted or trademarked. That’s the way it is, and has been for a long time. It’s not something that can be changed overnight.

As best I can tell from what I read anything made before 1926 entered public domain as of January 1st 2022, which includes Winnie the Pooh, though how that works I have no idea.

As for Mickey Mouse, only one version of him is entering Public Domain, that being Steamboat Willy, whose copyright expires in 2024.

Yeah, but how can something created after 1922 “enter the public domain”? Winnie the Pooh was created in 1926, so wouldn’t the A.A. Milne estate holds the rights until they decide to sell them?

Same thing with Mickey Mouse: created 1928, yet I hear talks of him “entering the public domain”. Wouldn’t Disney holds the rights until they decide to sell them?

From everything I read back when images for Blood and Honey started popping up is that Winnie the Pooh entered public domain around the time this particular image dropped, thus making it so that people could do whatever they wanted with the IP, like make a horror film.
