2D animation is easier to make expressive because you can just cheat angles instead of deforming the models.

Although, I have hopes that the 3D team will figure out how to do good-looking realtime model deformation like DJThed, so they can cheat angles in 3D! Although that won’t fix the questionable design choice of making the characters’ eyes really far apart like a poorly-drawn anime.
