I find that in Equestria, the word “princess” has a whole other definition. In MLP, princesses are associated more with wisdom and power than with femininity. Check out Digibrony’s Twilicorn video.

I was surprised he didn’t bring up the hate for Twilight’s transformation as an example, but I guess that is a very fandom-specific thing.

Was I the only one who thought NC shooting a Celestia doll in The Cat in The Hat was totally fitting?

San may or may not count as a princess. She was given that as a title by the people of Iron Town. In fact, Mononoke is Japanese for angry or vengeful spirit and she was called Princess Mononoke because she was raised by Moro, one of the more powerful gods of the forest next to the Forest Spirit itself.

My thoughts? If someone is capable of moving a sun - nature’s nuclear fission/fusion plants - they can call themselves whatever the hell they feel like.

Yes, but Doug was tired of the old ways and was in a slump. If he would have continued the way he did, he would have started to hate it and it would be appearent in his reviews.
 
So, after a long break, here’s come the bi-weekly reviews with skits in them. I LOVE it this way. Sure, some skits are kinda lame, others are pure genius.

Celestia knows this. That is why she takes up the tittle Princess. She want’s to be seen as youthful, avalible and say “Hey I too like to eat yogurt through a tube.”

Cadence may be pink. But during the wedding episode, it was the Prince who needed saving. She was far from being one of helpless strains and possesses magic power that far exceeds that of the prince.

Nothing’s wrong with princesses. The only problem is making princesses constantly damsels in distress. None of the princesses in FiM have ever been that. Even Cadance was the one who escaped from the cave.

Line me up because I think the show has improved with the extra material. During the last bit of the original NC run, a lot of his material was feeling forced and he was relying a lot on cameos (I guess contract obligations but whatever). Hell, the Scooby-Doo review, while parodying one of the best finales I remember watching, still felt like the other reviews at that time, the anger being more over the top. While Demo Reel was bad, the cast from it is good in these short burst. While CR was a drag in the Son of the Mask review, the devil and his “family” were enjoyable and made sitting through the review bearable (honestly that movie is bad). The last review with the Catwomen had me laughing as I kept going back to the old argument who is the better Catwoman (I prefer Ertha Kit but that’s just me)

Celestia’s part in the song really was mind blowing. The songs are catchy I admit. Lots of Easter Eggs in that episode to forget about the main plot of the episode.
 
I too see a plot and universe expansion in this. Looking forward se4. They did say that this episode was only part 1/3…

Well, you know even if she asked, Twilight would have just gone “Yes yes yes yes yes yes.” cause they already planned to turn her into one. Buuuuut yeah, it probably wouldn’t have hurt to have Celestia ask.
