I’m guessing it was the ponies themselves that turned off magic. Probably to protect themselves from the shadow unicorns in “Make your Mark” who, I’m guessing, are Umbrans. Canon Sombra, before/while he was evil, trapped them in the shadow dimension to keep his crazy mom there (Queen of the Umbrans). Maybe discord even helped get rid of magic, and is now bitter and pissed… Hmm…

I think you are forgeting that he can survive just fine without magic. It’s kinda funny that you are talking about the Mane Five helping him when Amy already said that this will happen.

Yeah, I have to agree. Bringing Discord back isn’t a good idea. If they wanted a character from G4 to bring back to connect with G5, it needed to be Spike. He could be bitter about what happened to Equestria, but the Mane 5 show him to turn grief into hope and renew his confidence. Discord should’ve died when Fluttershy passed away. He probably would’ve requested it since he’s her closest friend and can’t imagine being without her. Not to mention, doesn’t Discord NEED magic to survive? He didn’t do any chaos magic in that one episode and was disappearing because of it. So, by all means, he should’ve been dead long ago without any magic or anyone to cause chaos.

I also have this bad feeling that Discord is responsible for magic disappearing in Equestria. I know this is a stretch, but considering Discord’s track record this isn’t too far fetched. This is the same guy who caused the black vines to appear, used necromancy to revive Sombra, united Equestria’s enemies and nearly got the world destroyed because of his lack of foresight, and caused the Knights of Harmony to wage war on others. Him causing magic to disappear isn’t out of the possibility for him.
