Description

A pair of morally reprehensible women. to cope. with Our Origin. This all takes place around the same time. also happy lesbian week :3
The marriage of Queen Celestia and Queen Chrysalis was not an easy one at the start. The pair only married out of obligation, with Chrysalis proposing a political marriage to save herself from exile, something that would be a death sentence for a changeling. She argued that a marriage to a highborn pony would unite ponies and changelings in the eyes of the public, and force her to integrate into society. Celestia took the Queen’s offer, liking the idea of forcing the old crone to change. Chrysalis was no longer the ruler of her hive, serving as queen to her people in title only. Her heir, Ocellus, ruled as regent under the drone Thorax and soldier Pharynx. Chrysalis was isolated, and quickly began building a hive right in the heart of Canterlot, under her wife’s supervision of course. She called upon her former subjects to come to her and join her new hive, and a few did. Within a few short years she had a small hive of around 30 changelings, with each role filled except for soldiers, a rule put in place by Celestia to keep the Queen from getting any ideas.
It was at this time that the Equestrian courts began asking about offspring born to the couple. After some discussion, the pair decided each would bear a child to act as heir to their respective empires. Neither Chrysalis nor Celestia had ever expressed real romantic interest in the other, and outsourced their sires. Chrysalis bore a daughter, a future queen, via springtime mating with a drone from a colony just outside of Equestria’s borders, while Celestia selected a sperm donor from one of the noble houses of Equestria, and bore a son. Their children grew up as siblings, with their mothers coparenting their shared offspring. After Celestia’s son ascended to Alicorn status upon reaching his majority, and Chrysalis’s daughter had her first meal of royal jelly, the happy family charade fell apart. With no babies to care for, Celestia and Chrysalis grew even more distant than before.
However, over the years, Chrysalis had softened. She had once been hard, uncompromising, and needy, demanding love from her bride and taking it if it was not given, much to the chagrin of Celestia. But after raising her daughter, one who was born with a gentleness in her heart that was unknown to the hardened Queen, Chrysalis began to leave behind her desperate and famished ways. She sought out Celestia, feeding off the ambient feelings of her wife, drinking in millenniums worth of longing and pain like rich broth. She could sense a deep well of only the most unconditional love within Celestia, and was determined to extract it, though she was unsure as to why or how. She became Celestia’s shadow, following the mare everywhere, all while feasting on the waves of emotion that flowed from her. Eventually, Chrysalis got bold, and began to badger her wife about these feelings, and every time she was met with the cold shoulder and days of silence. Chrysalis grew frustrated, and decided that if Celestia would not give up these feelings willingly, she would suck them out of her like marrow.
Chrysalis, never one for subtlety, literally ambushed her wife one winter evening, and latched on like a tick. She used her powers as a changeling queen to get inside Celestia’s head, pouring over her memories and desires. Here in the psyche of a goddess, Chrysalis found a tangled mess of love and pain. She saw hazy memories of innumerable lovers and offspring, dead of disease and age and sometimes a flash of magic and fire. She was almost drowned in Celestia’s love. Love for her people, and her students, and her sister, and her son, and there, deep down was a little nugget of love for Chrysalis. Most of all, Chrysalis was overwhelmed by the mare’s deep, insatiable hunger. Within Celestia there was a deep desire for power, for unwavering loyalty from her subjects, for absolute control and harmony among her people. Chrysalis was enchanted by it.
When Chrysalis let go of Celestia’s mind and regained awareness of reality, she was shocked to see the once imposing Celestia sprawled on the floor, lost in the dreamlike haze of changeling venom. When Celestia awoke, she stared into Chrysalis’s face with such bewilderment and shock that Chrysalis could not hold her gaze. After the initial shock of this heated exchange, Celestia spoke first. She apologized for locking Chrysalis out, saying that she has never felt that any creature could ever love and understand her as she is, as an undying goddess who would outlive all that she knew and loved. She cried out with grief for a legion of lost friends and lovers and children, for whom she could not even recall the faces of after lifetimes without them. She told Chrysalis that she wanted companionship. She yearned most ardently for another pony to truly share her life with, even for just a fleeting moment. While Luna would always be by her side, the rift between them would last many years, and Celestia was so, so lonely.
Chrysalis at once saw Celestia as something more than a goddess too powerful to understand. She saw herself in the mare, the desire for power and deep longing for companionship in Celestia’s heart reflected Chrysalis’s perfectly. She took Celestia’s hoof in her claw, and kissed her. It was not the violent and desperate kiss of a beast starving for affection, but one of tenderness and blossoming love. This first kiss that they shared was followed by many, many more. And when Celestia rose early the next morning, this time with her wife beside her, she lifted the sun into the sky and knew that the dawn was the first of many that she would share with someone who loved her. Following that night, the two Queens shared every moment. Chrysalis invited Celestia to witness the hatching of a new generation of worker changelings, cradling the delicate grubs in the warm aura of her magic. Celestia held court with Chrysalis at her right hand, the dark changeling watching the proceedings of Equestrian life with rapt interest, noting each decree, mandate, and petition. Chrysalis was quite impressed with how Celestia controlled her people with a gentle manipulation that left them with the feeling that they were in control.
Days turned to months, and as their 20th wedding anniversary approached, the pair decided to renew their vows, this time with meaning. They organized a small ceremony, inviting their closest friends and most beloved subjects. At the alter for the second time, they promised to share their lives in their entirety, to rule their people with shared interest and love, and to trust one another above all else. And like in a fairy-tale, when they shared a kiss after their vows, Chrysalis was so fully and entirely consumed with love that she transformed. She shed her broken and mangled black carapace and revealed her true form, one of shimmering green and gossamer wings. In her new body, Chrysalis was beautiful and bright and so full of happiness and love that she wept, and Celestia wept with her.
