Having to animate dozens of different background ponies would have taken too much time and wouldn’t have really made a significant difference in quality.

seriously, now. i never though that besides animation the chapter would be showlike… at least i never heard zachary saying anything like that…

They probably ment the animation, but yeah the storyline, and crossover bits didn’t seem “studio-quality.” It felt more like a parody, then a legit episode, but it was still decent, I felt.
 
I don’t think the voices would be bad, but with all the people complaining over the voices, they probably would be upset regardless if they’re good or bad.
 
Though personally I liked Twilight & Dashie’s voices in it. Kira/Rina-Chan does the voice for Twilight in alot of fan-animations, (Including the .MOV parodies) so I’m glad they chose her personally.

Honestly, I didn’t even notice it was just those background ponies that were around until it was pointed out.

I’m more annoyed by people like PikaRobo and their endless complaining about “pandering”.

You misunderstood. I meant I would have liked to see more of a variety of background ponies per scene such as Cloud Kicker, Amethyst Star, or Shoeshine (a Bonbon recolor keep in mind) and LESS of the more popular ones. I wouldn’t mind seeing them a few times, but when they’re the ONLY ones to appear…

They did state it was going to be “studio quality”. And how do you know the voices theey might have chosen were going to be bad?

Oh hey a fan made something really good and did his best. How about we complain about every little detail that’s in there? Or we could also go to his house and kill him with a chainsaw, because it’s not entirely perfect.

But then people would just complain more about the voice acting. That’s all people do. Bronies are getting as impossible to please as “Sonic fans.”
 
Also, to be fair, I don’t think they ever stated it was going to be “serious.”

At least in IDW the cameos are just for one page, In MMC Vinyl only had one scene, Lyra and Bonbon DO appear together sometimes, but it’s cleverly placed in the background and aren’t shoved into the viewer’s face. Making fans happy with cute cameos is one thing, pandering and favoritism are another.

The thing is this is supposed to be the first serious fan episode. Would it have been that hard to at least give the rest of the mane 6 some lines instead of relegating them to “extra” status?

I was waiting the whole episode for best pony, and all she got was a little backround shot at the end with a clipboard. Minuette is popular too, guys! What’s the deal?
 
Though Minuette with a clipboard was pretty great in all fairness.

Dusk’s Dawn was complete crap. Double Rainboom could’ve been amazing if not for the crappy writing/direction.

And yeah, the show & comic has lots of the characters cameo in them. Nobody complained about this comic page. >>121390 (In fact, the Blues Brothers ponies made me giggle.)
