You’re compare this to Bleedman? At least, his crossover comics have far greater writing. You know, with an actual plot and a greater degree of competence. The artwork’s at least pretty damn good.

I would say it is above average, considering what they were working with.

Really good animation, I’ll say that much. But yeah, I lost interest when Rainbow Dash leveled the entire town, destroying anything she touched and didn’t give a good God damn about any of it.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Going into this, I hadn’t know of any of the hype or promos. I actually didn’t even know this was a thing until I found a gif of Derpy trying to enjoy a muffin here and decided to check out the source. I didn’t know this was supposed to be something that would “rival the show in terms of quality”, so I didn’t have the high expectations many apparently had. I just saw it as a fan animation going into it and that’s what I got. I know it’s not an actual canon episode and wasn’t about to/will not treat it as one. And as a clearly fan-made, clearly non-canon animation, I thought it was good.

Really, the only problem I had with it is that it looked like the story was going in a different direction at first. When the potion was made and turned into an evil-laughing face, I though Twilight had created a new villain or something. And then it disappeared into the test tube and was never spoken of again. That part just seemed misleading and pointless.

Dang, 40+ comments in under an hour. Kicked the hornets nest didn’t I?

I’m not saying that this whole thing was a turd. Actually I was quite enjoying it until the whole crossover BS. You can see that these guys put alot of time and effort into this thing and I do appreciate that. However on the other side of the coin when you create something that you hype FOR OVER A YEAR as being something thats just as good as the source material you’re paying “homage” to and it turns out to be just a really high qaulity youtube crossover parody – expect some blowback.

If they had made it like a normal MLP episode and had the plot be something like IDK, “RD deals with everybody pissed at her over her NUKING THE TOWN!” Then it might have turned out as acceptable. Instead the thing just veers off into crappy fanfiction land. Silly is perfectly fine – but promote it as such.

The animation is great for fanmade, the plot is actually okay (up until the above point), and these guys pulled off a preatty impressive feat here.

They just need to enroll their ass into writing school after they graduate from animation class….

I think everyone needs to stop bashing Double Rainboom. We should all be working together as a fandom, not against each other.

Double Rainboom was by no means perfect. The concept and idea were great, the execution; not so much. However, we shouldn’t be bashing it, we should instead strive to do better next time.

For once, /mlp/ actually has the right idea (they’re talking about doing their own episode using a scraped plot that Lauren Faust had pitched). Double Rainboom didn’t live up to our expectations, but that doesn’t mean fan-made episodes are impossible to do right.

I personally thought it was lighthearted and fun. Not show-like, but fun nonetheless.

if you don’t like the film atleast appreciate them for taking the time to actually do this smooth animation (it took 53 weeks i do believe)
