My guess is no Alicorn could exist when the races are divided. So there aren’t any ‘real’ Alicorns left in Equestria as a result of the past division in the pony races. It is a similar reasoning as to why magic disappeared, as well. As such, there won’t be any ‘actual’ Alicorns until Sunny herself becomes an actual Alicorn later in this series.
