Honestly, with how popular lesbian relationships in cartoons have gotten as of late (SU, Owl House, She Ra, even MLP itself), it actually wouldn’t surprise me if they lent in on something like this. It’s proven to be pretty good for marketing and internet points, and the screaming homophobes haven’t made much of a fuss over the others, so they really don’t have much to lose.
