The bigger/higher they are, the harder they fall I guess. They couldn’t use magic and didn’t know how to rebuild things so their only choice was to run into the woods. That’s my guess anyway.

Losing magic really did a number on them. Mentioning magic just reminds them the good o’ days, overwhelming them. Feathers and wings remind them of their fear of pegasi. And they just don’t like mayonnaise I guess. :P
