My description fits at once a number of characters of different races.
Yes, of course some unicorn background pony would be a fun choice too.
But I’m not exactly the one who would say that the sixth should be exactly the unicorn. Definitely not a pegasus, but it could still be an earth pony. I like Sunnycorn.

No one actually thinks that. (Or at least that how it should be)
All five (six) of them differ from the previous six. You can already see this in the current five, although in places they bear some resemblance to mane6. But they are already too different from them. Just wait until the sixth is in the group and the difference becomes more obvious.
Yes, the sixth… I think it will be our alarmist. And I am totally for it! (=

Why does every pony think Zipp is Rainbow Dash? They’re nothing alike, other than their species and their love for flying. Don’t let the whole pegasus earth pony unicorn thing limit your judgements guys! She’s Apple Jack. Just look at her behaviors! She’s down to earth, modest, and loves the truth. Hitch is the new Rainbow Dash.

The new AppleDash or FlutterDash or RariJack (I think Zipp is a combination between Rainbow Dash&Rarity and Hitch is a combination between Applejack&Fluttershy).
 
Actually, I think characteristically, Zipp is more like Apple Jack. She’s calm while facing difficulties, comforts other ponies when they’re sad, loves the truth, and hates the phony royal flying scam. On the other hoof, Hitch is more like Rainbow Dash, being kind of too full of himself at times, and loving being honored and looked up to. He’s more like Rainbow Dash with Fluttershy’s animal powers, and also a little bit of Quibbles.
