I personally am not fond of the “mouthpiece” format. Where you have a character just holding a flag or standing behind a banner that says an opinion. It’s not even what is being said, but rather that I just think it’s a very uninspired way to try to make a statement. To put it a different way, to me it’s the Pony Creator of making a statement. I think it’s so much better to just depict a character, be they canon OR oc, just doing things that normalize the concept. Like Glitter Shell. Hell, I’ve had people speculate that my version of Star Tracker is trans, and what makes it work really well as such a thing is that it actually doesn’t matter if he is or not: nobody in the images cares if he’s trans or not, the potential concept is completely normalized, nothing would change if he explicitly came out as trans OR cis, and the entire “conflict” (as it were) is that he insists he’s cosplaying rather than crossdressing. Because that’s the ultimate goal, to have a world where it doesn’t matter if you’re gay, straight, trans, cis, whatever :P
