Think the movie will be the last time we will see the Mane 6 “live”, especially if the finale will see Sunny ascend to the Elsewhere where the ponies’ collective magic is, and meet Twilight and her friends. Whether you want to avoid the discomfort of making the alicorns deadly or remove the Mane 6 as “permanent death”, it may be a good idea to copy the spirit realm from Kung Fu: Panda’s third movie - and create lore about the mysterious magic behind the ponies . Then, after natural death, the Mane 6 could be “alive” in the Elsewhere, along with Twilight which can remain immortal or long-lived - a question that many see interest in making unanswerable. Thus, they can meet Sunny (and perhaps for the second time at the end of G5) even if they were either gone or ascended for one last time. We already know that the mysterious realm is directly related to the ponies and the magic behind them. If that happens, and it is explained in the movie that it is a one-way ticket for alicorns who have to leave the mortal domains at a later ascension, many viewers will undoubtedly be in tears. G4 is over, and Sunny will return to a new world.
Do not think there will be many cameos of Spike and Mane 6 in G5, especially not in the first three seasons planned from autumn 2022, but if G5 should go well, there is a growing possibility that G4 will increasingly be taken into the show, as with G1 for G4. But now I think we’re moving a little too far from the topic of this thread.
In any case, we must very much hope that there will be more world-building and a further expansion of the lore from G4, which can be expanded with adaptations of G1 and G3 that it seems to be of interest to, considering IDW’s new comic series that is underway .
Ornithians, Abyssinians, diamond dogs, centaurs, minotaurs - these belonged to “the anthro chimera races” which can now be put into a separate group by having humanoid bodies based on the human. On the other hand, we have griffons, hippogriffs and sphinxs like “the animal chimera races”. And lastly, we have the ponies, deer, reindeer, donkeys, yaks, buffalos and goats in “the civilized four-legged races”, which have demonstrably developed social communities and typical features of civilization. The cows and partly the oxen and the sheep can not be described as civilized four-legged races, and the same can be said about the goats in recent times. Interestingly, as seen with the goats, there is not a clear line between “civilized” and “non-civilized” among four-legged races in contrast to the chimera races. Only herbivores seem to be the first to develop socialities that could evolve into actual civilizations, for omnivores such as carnivores are mostly chimera beings that must have been of later date. For these do not occur naturally, and must thus arise as a result of magic.
And we have seen in S8, when the Mane 6 broke out of the prison Tartarus, that the chimera monsters can be reversed to their original ancestry as three dogs for Ceberus - and in the G4 movie that it is possible to create chimera constructions with powerful magic objects like the orb of Queen Novo. These two examples show that refined magic that can be manipulated is necessary to create permanent beings from several different animals. Then it means that these anthro chimera peoples of Equus did not stretch back as far as the original herbivorous peoples who may have been the first to develop knowledge of how to manipulate magic. Of course, it could be contradicted by referring to how the changelings occur, but I think these arose through an enchanted nut that may have been meant to resurrect an extinct pony tribe from death.
Grogar is the only one who has been confirmed to have created chimera monsters, and it is possible that he is also behind the dragons that have a very long history - so far back, that these have created their own species family. But it is also possible that others were involved in creating hybrid people for their own purposes or just as experiments. The minotaurs and the diamond dogs could have originated as slave people while the abyssinians may have the result of experimentation, although the centaurs are a big question, maybe the first magic skilled ponies were behind it? It seems that the civilized chimera beings were children of the first actual civilizations who had learned how to use magic.
It is undoubtedly deeply fascinating to ponder this; for there are certainly far more than all races that have been shown so far, and from human mythology there are many examples to choose from, both as direct imitation or as inspiration. Perhaps the ponies - if the historical memory was wiped out by the great frost and the great exodus - were the first of the many ancient magical civilizations on Equus. Closely followed by the goats.
If the G5 is going to introduce even more of this, it will be interesting!
I already recognized G5 as the MLP Version of “Batman Beyond” and “Legend of Korra”. Both of those shows had cameos of older versions of the previous show’s cast, so we may be get cameos from older versions of Spike and the Mane Six in G5.
The ‘other’ birds.
Spike may be alive at the beginning of the G5, it would be ironic if he became the lord of the dragons in the end - as predicted during the episode when he won the scepter. But if the alicorns - including the Twilight Sparkle - ascend and thus are not long in the world of the mortal, it is possible that Spike will either rarely or never be seen in the G5. But the G4 will continue anyway; After all, Hasbro has twice given a lot of room for new stories and new experiences; the first with twenty years - and the second with many centuries.
Hopefully Spike shows up too honestly.
There are twenty years between the last two episodes of G4 S9, and it may be 500 years or more until the magic disappears for the most part; possibly when the alicorns had to ascend to save the magical balance of the world and the celestial bodies. Lots of time. Many “generations” and maybe more alicorns as heroines and heroes. Hasbro seems to be investing very heavily in the G5, but in the future they will allow a return of the G4 either if it goes badly - or if it goes well. Whatever the outcome; The G4 is here to stay, with a time span of perhaps 2,000 to 3,000 years between the G1 and G5.
And considering the new series that IDW will release, it is possible that a closer connection between G1, G4 and G5 can take place in the years towards 2030 or even further into the future. Which can form the outcome for sci-fi generations like G6 and G7 for example. Still with G4 as the background as Transformers G1 is for subsequent Transformers generations in TV series and comics.
Although the G5 movie may be the last time Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 “officially” appeared, especially if Sunny were to ascend for the first time when she and her friends have to resurrect the magic, it does not mean that they will be gone. They will return as long as there are fans and people who want them.
G4 is immortal.
Hope then that the Parrot peaks are Caribbean, otherwise a little disappointed that Ornithia is so … normal, and that the orinitians like the ponies struggle with tribalism. Celaeno is a notorious pirate who at one point commanded a pirate fleet that took on the Storm King and won by stealing his war booty. Very difficult to place her in connection with royals in her country.
But the fact that there are so many chimera civilizations … that the ponies with the exception of the pegasi and the alicorns stood out and only had magic to fall on when they built up a great power among the many kingdoms. What happened in the time before Megan Williams joined the ponies in G1? According to the MLP lore, Grogar was the “father of monsters” because he had been able to create monsters by putting together different species of animals - and is the only verified source behind the chimera creatures. It seems that these chimera people may have been created for one of two purposes; either to have subjects (Grogar and his people, the goats, are like the ponies as non-chimera creatures) - or as a backlash against the ponies who had a mysterious past before Megan appeared. We know that there were human-like beings in the world of that time in G1.
In G4’s past, it was Gusty who confronted Grogar and stole his bell, and it is possible that she not only saved the ponies from his terror, but also liberated the entire world that may have been subject to his rule. Based on this version, most civilizations could be indebted to the ponies. So Grogar’s claim to be “the emperor of all he sees” is not unrealistic. In G1, the ponies were thrown into constant war with serious threats around every corner, and it is possible that they were not alone in experiencing a time of terror and fear - until Megan appeared. In G4’s past, it was Gusty who took up the challenge. It would suit Grogar, whose magic is based on fear, to have such a split-and-rule regime where different people like Tirak seek his favor.
Lots of questions, and just speculation. But I do not think Grogar is gone forever. The windigos are a mystery, no one knows where Discord and the other dragonequus came from, and in G5 the magic had inexplicably disappeared so that little remains. It is as if a threatening power in secret through the millennia is constantly lurking, in a world divided into two by a past conflict. We can hope that the end of S10 will give us many answers.
