No lie, I used to read that book every day.
It’s a damn shame to, considering he has the potential to be one of the most interesting characters in the show.
Just look at the IDW short story where he teams up with Celestia. That was better then a few episodes I could name off the top of my head, and that was a side story.
Secret of My Excess: Great episode
Dragon Quest: Mediocre, wasted potential
Just For Sidekicks: Not that bad, but forgettable
Owls Well That Ends Well: Awful
Spike at your service: SHIT
It is not about quantity is about quality! Spike episodes have a history of not being that great overall. I rather have one awesome kickass Spike episode than several mediocre and shitty ones.
Of those five episodes, two are actually good. Of the remaining three episodes, two were written by a writer who has no idea how to write most characters in FiM and one was just weird.

Just for sidekicks was godlike.
