The thing is you are using the Tv show to determine the name of the Generation, when the post is clearly stating that using the Tv shows to determine the name of the generations is wrong. Which is why I was asking why the toyline is called G3.5 and not G4.

Maybe because it used the same characters as G3 did (even the same intro, but in new chibi style). Thats, the second part of G3 - called Core7 (with changed voices) - they existed only in short stories Meet the Ponies (well, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie were the “old ones”, but they added Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, Cheerilee, etc.)

Interesting that G2 tried for more horse like proportions. And I have never seen G2s in art or merch. Seems we want our cartoon horses to look like anything but horses.
