Bidding goals don’t really mean anything, an invisible minimum bid’s still a perfectly valid (as far as sites are concerned; you’re the one in the wrong if you’re about to get scammed by such method as far as the site’s concerned) method no matter the artist.

I get your point, but it is still up to an artist to mention this information or to leave it out. Besides, this particular artist has a portfolio with plenty of other complete auctions, so I believe there is no point for them to scam you by not mentioning the minimal price increase. Also, there are bidding goals to guide you.
 
I can’t say I support all of the artists, who omit this information, but in this case it is about whether you trust an artist or not.

No, I ain’t new (I’ve been to YCH auctions many times, which you can see if you check out commissioner:rautamiekka and a folder in my DeviantArt gallery), but I’ve already seen that the minimum bid after the starting bid could be arbitrary, like in >=1 case it was like 5, which wasn’t even hinted, not even in the site’s rules or something, so it should be a rule to mention the minimum bid no matter what (unless there’s actually no space to write it), if only cuz the artist could scam you by starting with a reasonable price for such a piece, then the minimum bid’s something stupid like 50. I knew everything you said ;)

Are you new to the auctions?  
It seems you have some misconceptions regarding how bids work. The initial starting bid is $10 - and a person has already placed this bid. Now you can place minimum $11 to participate in the auction - or more. $1 is just a minimal step.

Hmm, seeing as someone already bid the starting 10 and it’s now that 11, then it’s automatically 1 at minimum.
 
When you created the auction, were you not given an option to choose the minimum ?
