Why do people like you use this as an argument. none of us lives on Ponyville. The point is that G4 was not a carbon copy of real life, at least in its intrigue.

To all those saying a touchscreen would never work with hooves… How old are you? Did you not know resistive touchscreens? Yeah, a hoof is a bit big for a screen so small, but in that world, apps would be made specifically thinking of the size of hooves, like not using small buttons, using more gestures, etc. It would be totally possible IMO.

Well, the problem is that today the smartphone, whether we like it or not, is an indispensable object to be part of society and now you can’t live without it, so over time it has become a sort of addiction.  
One thing I liked about Equestria was the fact that ponies didn’t need a smartphone, a computer or social media to socialize or be a part of society, they were so free and carefree without these things…  
It saddens me to think that many ponies now instead of experiencing epic adventures and learning from the world around them are locked up at home chatting on the phone and thinking about their popularity on social media instead of thinking about more important things like true friendship.  
It reminds me too much of the insignificant existence that we are forced to live in reality.  
In an idealized fantasy world like Equestria it’s really a sour note for me.  
On the other hand, if they have included smartphones because they want to treat this as an argument, I think it can be a good thing, although I doubt they will since people are now too fond of these objects to appreciate a negative criticism on them.
