I bet if I rub a match under those bare soles, it lights up.

My grandmother used to do it, being a true barefooter countrywoman, her feet were quite tough and rough. When I went to see her she often played this little game to entertain me, and I didn’t understand how she did it or how she felt no pain.

That sounds hot, I’d love to try that with Applejack and her rough calloused soles, I doubt she’d feel anything :P

My dear old granny felt almost nothing; she walked on beaten ground, on wood, on stones, always barefoot, in summer and sometimes even winter.

Once, when we were playing Indians, and my grandmother played the prisoner tied to the torture stake, standing on a pile of dry branches with bare feet as usual; my grandma encourages me to set fire to the wood she was standing on.
I wasn’t convinced because I didn’t want her to get seriously hurt, and then mum and dad don’t want me to “play with fire”; but she reassured me that there was no risk and that she would take full responsibility, so I convinced myself, I took the matches she kept in her pocket and set fire to the twigs.
I remember it was funny because the sticks started smoking and the smoke came out even between her toes; then a few flames began to flicker from the wood and my grandma began a “dance” on the soles and tips of her feet stepping on pieces of embers and burning twigs.

When we ended up at her feet there was only a stain of ash and her feet were blackened, the funny thing is that the whole time she was faking the pain and that little fire was just a little hot for her.

My grandma was really tough and her feet were stainless.
