Description
This is a design sheet for Lemon Zest as she appears in my Equestria Girls fan-fiction series I am working on. It’s still a work in progress and is subject to revision, but can read more about it by following the links listed at the bottom of the image description, where I release bits and pieces of the setting before moving on to the real thing. It is recommended to read them in order.
THE FAN-SERIES
I am in the process of writing a road-map and world building for a fan-fiction series based in the Equestria Girls setting. Basically, I am writing it like a television series, made-up of 2 series’, comprised of 4 seasons each, and each season consisting of 30 episodes. It will be written in the style and tone of the actual show. It’s basically what I would do if I was the writer for the actual Equestria Girls series.
PERSONALITY
Lemon Zest is very exuberant, full of energy and expression, preferring exciting, fun activities with lots of action, such as dancing, certain sports, paint-ball, and her favourite activity, laser tag. She’s also an avid gamer, preferring action and rhythm games. She’s a huge fan of the Heavy Metal band Skull Kruncher, whose music she frequently listens to on her radio-headphones, and also plays both the electric guitar and the drums.
CASUAL ATTIRE
Lemon Zest’s preferred style of dress, visually wild and expressive of her interests, like heavy metal, and is typically not at all expected by most, given her otherwise cute appearance.
BASE UNIFORM
The standard uniform of Consortium members when stationed within one of their bases.
OPERATIONS
Operatives typically wear something like this when on a mission that does not involve being in disguise or hiding in plain sight. The insignia on the left arm signifies the operatives speciality and role, and in Lemon Zest’s case, she is a Soldier.
CLASS: SOLDIER
Lemon Zest’s role is that of soldier, and as expected she is trained for combat and in the use of various weapons. Typically the soldier class act as front-line warriors, guards or hunters, taking on missions where combat is expected or when armed security is necessary. When hunting, they are tasked with pursuing and either capturing, nullifying or sometimes destroying targets that have been designated as a threat, such as supernatural and magical beings, villains and rogue technological threats such as out of control Robots created by Rogue Mad Scientists. Soldiers usually operate in teams, but are sometimes trusted to operate solo depending on the task at hand, such as hunting a dangerous criminal or supernatural or technological entity.
THE TECHNOLOGICAL CONSORTIUM
The primary recurring antagonists of seasons 1-4, which comprise Series 1. They have a strong presence in every season. The Technological Consortium, or just “The Consortium” for short, with members often being referred to as “Techs” by those know of it, such as the Rainbooms.
The Consortium is a secret global organization which runs most of what goes on in the world, through controlling and influencing people in key-positions to using their resources to nudge events in one direction or another. They pursue, hunt, and police the mystical and supernatural elements of the world, but they also pursue rogue scientists, AI’s, dangerous technology, super villains and other especially dangerous criminals, as well as safeguarding against natural and unnatural disasters, but magic and the supernatural are what they spent most of their time guarding the world from. Think of the Consortium as a combination of The Men in Black, the SCP Foundation, Cadmus from Justice League Unlimited and the Technocratic Union from Mage: The Ascension.
Being a practitioner of magic or a supernatural being does not mean destruction or imprisonment, but the Consortium will police and regulate any known practitioners of magic and any supernatural beings they are aware of, providing strict regulations and laws they must abide by. Indeed, the Consortium counts magic users and other supernatural beings as members, mainly acting as experts on magic and the supernatural and as special agents. Magic users and supernatural beings who do not wish to take part in Human society are typically relegated to quarantine or “preservation” zones, such as Everfree Forest and other places. Magic users and supernatural beings are free to live their lives as they wish as long as they do not pose a threat, and the Consortium frequently patrols around and through these zones. Many who are relegated to quarantine zones feel understandably oppressed, and the consortium is viewed as an oppressive and menacing force by some.
In the fan-fiction, the Consortium will frequently be at odds with the Rainbooms and the denizens of Equestria, who they see as rogue elements and potential threats. The Consortium has been watching the Rainbooms and their antics for quite some time, and have been assisting them from behind the scenes in hopes that the Equestrian portal problem will resolve itself while taking steps to perform damage control or commit resources to backup plans should the Rainbooms fail. For example, they were prepared to step in during the initial Sunset Shimmer and Midnight Sparkle incidents before those things resolved themselves. Sometimes their assistance was necessary, such as during the Sirens incident, where they sent another of their young operatives, Vinyl Scratch, to free the Rainbooms and provide them with aid against The Dazzlings. What, you think Vinyl Scratch just so happened to show up with a giant transforming speaker-equipped car…?
IN THE FAN-SERIES
In the series, Lemon Zest will be a side-character for the first season, usually appearing alongside her fellow Shadowbolts but with at least one episode dedicated to her and teaching us more about her. I was intending to have her not initially be a member of the Consortium like some of her fellow Shadowbolts, and instead have her be recruited halfway through season 2 along with Sugarcoat. I have also decided to have her be Friends with Pinkie Pie, and the plot of her recruitment episode will focus on Sour Sweet and Human Sunset Shimmer trying to sour their relationship. After her recruitment, she would receive training and be assigned to a team of young operatives, including her fellow new-recruit - Sugarcoat, although they will be on a different team to the other Shadowbolts mentioned in previous instalments.
Lemon Zest is assigned the class of Soldier, where her natural talents at gun-play, honed by her frequent partaking of video games, paint-ball and laser-tag, have made her well-suited to this role. Sunny Flare, Sour Sweet and Indigo Zap were the ones who recommended an investigation from their superiors into the suitability of Lemon Zest as an addition to their organization, and provided evidence of her potential as a good Soldier operative based on her skills and interests. I was intending on having the previously mentioned Lemon Zest and Pinkie Pie friendship episode focus on laser-tag and paint-ball, where the Shadowbolts go up against the Rainbooms, where Sour Sweet and Human Sunset Shimmer try to instigate negative feelings of competitiveness between her and Pinkie Pie. Her fellow Shadowbolts capture video evidence of Lemon Zest’s combat skill in a game of Laser Tag and Paint-ball, with the latter involving her leading her team to victory in a game of Capture the Flag against the Rainbooms. Sour Sweet and Sunset’s plan to break up Lemon Zest’s friendship with Pinkie Pie almost works, but the two remain Friends, but have to come to terms with the fact they are on two different sides throughout series 1. Even though she is on a different team to Sunny Flare, Sour Sweet and Indigo Zap, her and Sugarcoat still hang out with their fellow Shadowbolts when they can.

@Orangie1984
I’m happy you Guys like the look I gave her. Going by her personality, behaviour and interests I didn’t think she’d be particularly “Girly”, for lack of a better term. I went a similar route with Indigo Zap.
Same.
