Some context:
tl;dr Pastebin is cranking up on the level of content restriction. Anything that triggered their ““SMART”” filter is now forcibly set to private, both old and new pastes. This led to the loss of numerous stories, greentexts, and various other resources that was previously hosted on Pastebin, spanning years of /mlp/‘s existence. A not insignificant loss to the board’s history occured today.
A replacement site, PonePaste, is currently in the works. Its development could be tracked on /mlp/’s Fan Site Alternative Thread.

The way it works is take a pastebin link like mine here https://pastebin.com/U1k4Y12e and replace the “pastebin.com” part with “poneb.in” to get https://poneb.in/U1k4Y12e. Obviously it’s not much use for this particular link, but it’s an easy way to revisit many lost pastes.

That’s unfortunate. Background Pony #B093 mentioned that you could use the way back machine to retrieve your pastes, I’ve never used it, but, I’m guessing that’d be your best bet. I wouldn’t mind reading your pastes if you could get them back.
Not necessarily, one of my pastes was deleted outright a while back.

Yeah, pretty much, if the original writefag is still around it’s not too big a deal since he can just transfer over his stories to ponepaste in one go; if they haven’t been around for a while though you’re only hope is either the waybackmachine or (worst case scenario) scouring desuarchive and trying to put back the story piece by piece, which would be absolutely miserable for longer stories.
Its the burning of the Library of Alexandria, but in the context of /mlp/ content. A decade’s worth of pony content is potentially lost forever.
Not really, people on the internet just don’t want to learn their lesson. Remember when Tumblr nuked everything?
