Discord is a unscrupulous antihero, twi is almost a pure of heart hero, different characters who fit there different roles.

look up tvtropes pay evil unto evil. They made it known they would always come back and had no remorse so they were punished in a way to where they can’t come back simple as that.

Evil that was already defeated and rendered harmless with the added benefits of examples like Starlight and Discord existing. There was literally no need to do something so cruel to them.
That rant about them always returning was so utterly lame I don’t get someone is actually taking it seriously.
that is what literally was happening in the story, crystalsis stated they will always return no matter what and the princesses and discord made sure that wouldn’t happen.
