My Little Pony - 1992 Edition

I like the episode because it points out a part of Twilight Sparkle’s character that often gets overlooked–at heart, she’s actually a villain. The “magic of friendship” didn’t come naturally to her, it had to be drilled into her over and over again. Without her friends to keep her on the straight and narrow, Twilight would have ended up like Sunset Shimmer or Starlight Glimmer.

They all recognized that everyone else was also trying to get Smartypants so the mob switched from just trying to get the doll to stopping others from getting it. It’s like how in Fall Guys there are players who just prevent others from gaining points rather than getting any themselves. I also thought that kind of escalation helped sell just how badly Twilight fucked up.

I think the main thing I didn’t like about this was the fighting at the end. I get the whole “want it need it spell” but if you look at the overall brawl, ponies who didn’t even have the doll were fighting to the point they wanted to end each other. To me, that’s not necessary
