Particularly if I can do voice work :D
When some (very) pro artist post the number of hours, say, 3-8, that it took them to finish a quality piece, I flip out, because I work days on the crappiest, sketchiest things usually. When I make something that I am even remotely happy with, that usually means a solid 8+ hours of work over multiple days - and I hardly ever do even basic retouching like shadows and such.
I’m not saying this to discuurage anyone because it can become a lot faster if you are talented & experienced, but anyone who will do that daily for free has my respect.
Does not mean that a small amount can’t be allowed to exist, but only at a minimum. For example, I thought that one “episode 13 discussion” post was a good idea (it lets everyone to leave/discuss their opinions in one thread, rather than scattering it among random images), but posting your opinion as a text upload instead of a comment, I consider that spam.
Was “here’s an obligatory pony” ever anything else than an in-joke? I think whether you paste in a pony screencap isn’t what matters, it’s whether the text itself is pony related or not.
This, art, in its many forms, can take a massive time investment, not to mention other things, just to try and get to a point where you can say you are getting good.
I’m a very technical person myself, i don’t have a drop of creativity or artistic skill and, while i could probably learn said skills, the “me” from right now is unable to make anything one could call art. That alone is enough to make me appreciative of other people efforts and results.
Thanks to everyone making, viewing, voting, and commenting as well.
The standard practice of “obligatory pony” opens up too many loopholes to be exploited anyways.
(PS Derpibooru is still (mostly) image-only, before anyone misunderstands this.)
