Yeah but in g2 era of transformers shockwaves name is on a completely different character with no traits of the original
It’s not the same type of change. As unlike the Shockwave/Shockblast rename, Rarity is completely unrecognizable.
It just hasbro giving names so they don’t loose trademark like when Shockwave was name Shockblast cause they lost the trademark
Fun fuct: Scootaloo and Sweetie Bell were turned into fillies before G4 (in G3 Meet the Ponies Core7 and - more visibily - in G3.5 Twinkle Wish Adventure - so basically, FIM did not change them that much :) )
Well, G3 came first, so it’s more like G4 Rarity barely resembles her. Though, oftentimes in generational reboots they have to change some things.
In fact, Toola Roola & Coconut Cream, two more G3 ponies cameo’d in an episode of G4/FIM, but like Scootaloo & Sweetie Belle got aged down into fillies.
Wonder if some characters will appear or cameo in G5, and what changes they may have.
G3 Rarity is pretty much Rarity in name only, unlike the other ponies who actually do have something of a resemblance to their G4 counterparts.

G4 RD is G3 RD split into Rares and G4 RD. So yeah.
G3 Rarity and every character was different. Back then funny enough, Rainbow Dash WAS Rarity in personality.
