Y’know, we don’t actually know the implication here, it acts like refusing a proposal is the worst thing ever, but for all we know fluttershy just sprung it on him in the first date.
 
Also Dunno how I feel on fluttermac,honestly I don’t pay much mind to ships I don’t back.

THis is almost like when Simon proposed to Nia in Gurren Lagann, the only difference is Nia only said no because she misunderstood Simon (since the way she was raised made her naive) when he asked her with his wording.
