I thought this comic was quite comfy.

It’s a very dangerous game. Whitley risks his reputation as a writer by mimicking early works in alternative stories and then making the future of Season 10 uncertain. We need originality first and foremost! Not a copy of the S1-S3 honor in another continent one would make too similar to Equestria. It is not creative, as one must be able to immerse oneself in what separates.
 
Zecora’s popularity is due to her African background as a shaman and outsider with very strong traditional ties that make her a strong and perfect counterpart to Equestria - she represents a unique culture, a foreign originality in itself. That is why many like her, and why it had long been a desire to find out more about the zebras, their countries and their culture.
 
By imitating and then by making the zebras and their background “equestrian” without a clear cultural identity in the zebras - Marini was a little too familiar with equestrian folk myths in my opinion - it will disappoint many. Also, it will break with the lore about MLP G4. We want an original and AFRICAN background in the story of Zecra and her homeland.
 
Is Whitley willing to be mocked? IDW takes a very big chance there.

Then it’s nothing but plagiarism from Whitley with a Zebra Mane 6, a future princess, a Tree of Harmony and an enemy from the darkness of the past. Now I understand why Hasbro had vetoed him a long time ago as it is said that the story is old. If there is a lot of interesting news about the zebras, a foreign country with a lot of unique culture as seen in the TV series MLP - and world building, the story would have gained acceptance. This should be Africa’s counterpart as with the kirins as an example of the East’s counterpart of Equestria with the ponies!

Cool story, bro.

Whitley is not innovative as a writer. It will be ridiculous to copy main elements again as the Tree of Harmony has been discontinued and ended in Season 9, as a sign of a new beginning. I would have rejected such a story without the slightest hesitation. It will be completely wrong, it is not a sign of ingenuity and innovation. Whitley must rewrite this if it is not too late, if he did not want to be ridiculed.
