This is a screenshot I took June (Pride Month) of last year on the Hasbro My Little Pony official website. I believe this was on the front page.
Celestia as my witness, this was on the official MLP website, believe me or not. I wanted to bring this to light to see if anyone else saw it, or could perhaps find a way to pull the page back up again. I tried Wayback Machine but no luck. And they aren’t doing it again this month.
I just want it to be known that this happened June 2019. And I want to publicly acknowledge how fucking hilarious it is, that they chose Rainbow Dash, the rainbow haired character suspected to be gay since day one, for a sorta ‘character of the month’ thing, for Pride Month.
Surely, they had to have known what they were doing, right? What was the thought process here?
I don’t know how to tag this, or if this shouldn’t even be on this website, if not I apologize and will take it down. I just thought it needed to be shown.

Didn’t think about the fact of Dash getting her hair from her dad, good point. And I forgot, she was into more girly dresses at one time, if I remember right. But, I totally get why people, LGBT people included, interpret and enjoy portraying her as LGBT, and that’s cool. Like I said I like seeing her like that too. So, whatever saddles your horse.
Ah yes definitely. Actual gay people should be offended at people that call Dash gay because she is (somewhat) tomboyish (but she definitely has a girly side and it shows) and has rainbow hair (which she inherited from her dad who obviously isn’t gay either), should be offended, because it’s blatant stereotyping like you said.
Oh, no no no, I think you misunderstood me, sorry. You never came across as homophobic at all. What I was saying was, people saying was like…People saying Rainbow Dash has to be gay because she acts like a tomboy; Sporty, dislike of traditional ‘girly’ stuff, like dresses or whatever, and her hair colors. Okay, now imagine someone seeing a real girl acting that way, and saying ‘she must be gay’ because she doesn’t act ‘girly’. THAT would be homophobic. Stereotyping. That all girls who don’t act super girly are gay. I was trying to draw a comparison to say, I understand why you feel that way of people saying Dash is a lesbian. Does that make sense?
I mean, I don’t have anything against someone being gay. It’s fine. I don’t have anything against Lyrabon for example, whatever floats their boat. But saying that someone who isn’t gay, isn’t gay, I don’t think is homophobic lol.
I don’t remember her showing any romantic interest in anyone, either. I love your interpretation and think it fits her very, very well. I understand where you’re coming from, just because she acts tomboyish doesn’t mean she has to be gay. I get that. I mean, if you said that about another human in real life, it’d sound downright homophobic. Now all that said, along with a lot of the characters in the show, I like seeing them with guys or girls.
She never actually showed romantic interest in anyone. That said, I do not see her as gay at all. A relationship is just not a priority in her life. It’s not something she would do casually at all. Since she can’t stand getting hit on, the type of guy she would (eventually) get involved with is someone who cares about her, but isn’t actively pursuing a relationship, someone that she could start out as friends with, so that there would be an opportunity to grow close without any of the discomfort of being hit on. I don’t see her getting involved with any of the Wonderbolts either because it would just be too awkward. But she loves kids too much (and is really freaking good with them) to not want her own someday (but not too soon, she wants to have her WB career). Trying to make her gay is absolutely idiotic because it would just make her a stereotype. I don’t care what kind of shit Hasbro makes, Rainbow isn’t gay.
