After the events of the Battle of Equestria, like many of the inhabitants of Equestria, Spike is certainly the one who suffered the most from the disappearance of Twilight and his friends and despite the words of Starlight and others, Spike entered for a moment a phase of solitude did not accept the help of anyone. He wanders through Ponyville without having a goal, one day he finds himself in the old castle of Twilight where he reads his book, this reminiscent of the few words of his dear but, the dragon regains his morale and goes back to work with the help of his friends in order to protect Equestria.
 
As time passes in Equestria, Spike does everything he can to help his friends in the task of protecting the kingdom of the future attack Maleficents, but despite all his efforts, Spike does not feel strong enough to help his friends. The young dragon would like to do more and in particular find a way to free Manes 6 and Celestia as quickly as possible, but for this he must learn a little more about magic and perhaps more. For Spike no other way, he has to learn magic and become a wizard. For many the idea of the young dragon is insane, but Spike is determined to become it regardless of the price, despite the searches in the old books and grimoires, Spike finds nothing on the subject of dragons capable of using magic. There’s only one chance left for him, asking for help from the person Twilight admired the most outside of Celestia: Star Swirl the Bearded.
 
If the basic idea of the dragon would have been a crazy and completely stupid idea for the Star Swirl of years ago, this is not the case for the Star Swirl of today who after traveling on the lands of Equestria and discovering friendship, he knows that nothing is impossible. For the old unicorn, how to say no by seeing the gaze filled with determination and surety of Spike, with the help of Discord, Spike learns each day a little more about magic, even if it took a little time, the young dragon feels some sensations in him. Already his dragon breath may be different depending on his will, he may be of fire, ice or many others, the young dragon becomes an excellent student but the more he learns about magic and the more the dragon accelerates his physical growth, indeed he is now older than Smolder, for Discord this is certainly due to the magic he is trying to learn, but the dragon does not care and accepts this without any problem. So Spike is close to becoming officially a magician as his Garbunkle character (without the stick and beard).
 
One day, while he was studying magic by reading Twilight’s books with Thorax in the councilman’s room, Spike heard a big reaction from the crowd that was starting to agitate outside the castle of Canterlot, Sunset Shimmer, Starlight Glimmer and Sunburst violently returned to the dark room. Then out of the castle, Spike noticed that the stars are shining even more than before, a sign that Nothingness’s spell is beginning to weaken and that Twilight and his friends have a chance to be freed.Hope is possible in these difficult times and Spike is happy, but three months after this event, he learns that visitors coming from Terraold are heading to Cantrerlot, for Spike it is the opportunity to learn a little more about the mysteries that surround the old contains, but he did not expect to meet a very special unicorn named Light Raid whose knowledge of magic has no limit, but also of this memory of the lessons on the friendship of his dear friend Twilight to save the white alicorne Duststrife from problems in Canterlot.
