You’d get brutal honesty from Sugarcoat and unbridled ecstasy and/or rage from Sour Sweet, LOL…
All in all, though, the Shadow Five are definitely the cutest “Mean Girls” you’ll ever meet…
Imagine how demoralizing their reactions would be before, during and after.
Supposedly MLP is getting a season 10 in comic form. Be cool if EqG got the same treatment.
@RAMMSTEIN45
Well, Equestria Girls did get another comic from IDW recently. Silver Quill said in his review of it on Equestria Daily it was good, so hopefully there could still be potential for both the Dazzlings and the Shadowbolts getting better portrayal as characters in the future.

“When it’s done right,” is one of the reasons it drew so much ire. Differing opinions and the strong emotions various fans have for the series. However, were it not for EqG, I wouldn’t be part of the fandom, so it clearly did something right. At least for my case.
Exactly! So much wasted potential. A lot of people hate on it, but EQG is really good when it’s done right.

Looking at it, I think the big problem was Hasbro’s reluctance to go all out for EqG. While the movies and various specials were fun, an actual TV series would have served the brand better.
Two or three part season premieres and finales focusing on the action elements with the bulk of the seasons being more slice of life, much like its parent series.
You could have the Dazzlings as recurring villains, the Shadowbolts as sometimes rivals, sometimes friends and the one off villains could get more screen time in follow up episodes.
The popularity of Wallflower and Juniper easily shows that the potential was wasted. Hopefully, with MLP going into G5, we might get a reboot for EqG as well, giving us a series the characters deserve.
Because there was so much potential for character development with the Shadow 5. We had 5 brand new characters that weren’t evil, just misguided. There were so many options for the Shadow 5 to learn and grow, and with their own different personalities it would have made for a lot of entertaining episodes.
I’ve always liked the concept of an evil counterpart elite Mane 6 rival squad that serves a bigger villain who rules an evil empire/organization.

Those are some pretty good points, but I think the Dazzlings are still superior. We at least got to see their back story in the IDW comics and their singing scenes in Rainbow Rocks were a lot more interesting to watch.
For the Shadowbolts in Friendship Games on the other hand, we barely saw what their back stories were like, or what else they did at Crystal Prep and outside of it. They weren’t on screen very long and all they did were act like unlikeable, unsportsmanlike, over-competitive idiots who had no respect for their competitors or even what their own teammates accomplished. They also had difficulty learning from their mistakes, as seen in Dance Magic.
Which is a shame, because I think the Shadowbolts had potential for some interesting chemistry with the EQG Mane Six, or even the Dazzlings for that matter, and I really wish we got that alternate ending to Friendship Games where Sci-Twi stayed at Crystal Prep instead.
I found the Dazzlings and the Shadowbolts were both portrayed as flat characters.
Rainbow Rocks didn’t show any character development for them and Sunset’s Backstage Pass didn’t add a lot of depth.
Adagio was still the smart leader, Sonata the ditz and poor Aria is still a snarky complainer. Their dynamics never really moved beyond that, even though a power struggle between Adagio and Aria was briefly hinted at.
The Shadowbolts, meanwhile, did show growth during Friendship Games and Dance Magic showed more of their group dynamics. Plus, being exaggerations or dark reflections of the Mane 6, depending on how you look at it, helps a lot in informing the audience about who they are.
But that’s just my opinion. I could be completely misinterpreting what was presented on screen.
May I ask why? Also, I think the Dazzlings are way better, because they were better portrayed as characters and they didn’t repeat their mistakes.

@RAMMSTEIN45
Probably would have seen more of them if they stuck with Sci-Twi going to Crystal Prep like they originally planned.
Yes they did!
100% Agreed! They deserved their own spin-off.
